How to choose the right size mirror for your space.

Choosing the right size mirror isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s about balance, scale and creating a sense of harmony in the room. Get the proportions right, and you’ll elevate the whole space. Here’s how to do it.

1. For the hallway or entryway.

A hallway mirror should ideally be two-thirds to three-quarters the width of the console or furniture beneath it. For example, if your console table is 120 cm wide, a mirror around 80 – 90 cm wide will give you a balanced look. Our Zanzibar mirror is a great option for this. Its deep wood tone works beautifully with most entrance palettes.

2. Over the mantel or fireplace.

Keep your mirror slightly narrower than the mantel - about 10 to 20 cm less in width is a good rule of thumb. So if your mantel is 150 cm wide, opt for a mirror that’s around 120 – 140 cm. Our Vienna mirror in an oversized size is ideal here. It adds elegance without overpowering the space.

3. For the bathroom.

For a single-sink vanity, a mirror 60 – 80 cm wide usually works best. If you have a double vanity, two separate mirrors or a wide horizontal one (120 – 140 cm) will feel more proportionate. Our Tallinn mirror is one of the most popular for bathroom use thanks to its clean lines and vertical impact.

4. Above a dressing table.

Go for a mirror that’s around the same width as your furniture, or a little smaller. Oval or round styles soften the look - ideal for bedrooms. Try the San Antonio mirror in brushed brass for a warm, elegant touch.

5. As a full-length mirror.

If you’re leaning or mounting a full-length mirror, aim for one that’s at least 120 – 140 cm high for dressing purposes. For larger visual impact, 160 – 180 cm works well. Our Melbourne mirror and Tallinn full-length are perfect for this.
